Zoe Saldana’s look for the 2010 Academy Awards was a work of art. Her hair and makeup presented the perfect frame to highlight to her dress, allowing her to dazzle the red carpet. “We wanted to achieve a sexy and sophisticated look while keeping it balanced with her dress,” says Celebrity Makeup Artist, Vera Steimberg. “With luminous skin and neutral-glossed lips, I was able to really focus on her beautiful almond-shaped eyes.”  Keep reading to get Zoe’s red carpet hair and makeup look.

FACE:

NARS Orgasm Illuminator was used to give luminosity to the skin, followed by NARS Enchanted Cream Blush on the cheeks, and finished with with NARS The Multiple in Lamu.

EYES:

The eyelids were prepped using NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base. Brousse Duo Eyeshadow was used to create a smoky eye, followed by their Eyeliner Stylo in Blanches. The eye look was finished with NARS Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara.

LIPS:

A unique, natural lip was created by mixing NARS Love Devotion Lipstick and Ophelia Lip Gloss. A similar effect can be accomplished with NARS Casablanca Lipstick, if Love Devotion isn’t available.

HAIR:

“We wanted to to have an editorial look because she was wearing Givenchy. We also didn’t want the hair and make up to compete with the dress so we created an elegant but effortless look.”

TRESemmé Naturals Lightweight Mousse was applied to damp hair, and blow dried away from the face with volume. Her head was flipped upside down during the end of the blow dry to finish.

The crown was separated from the rest of the hair, and the sides and back pulled into a tight ponytail. When making the ponytail, pull the hair almost all the way through, leaving the ends tucked into the pony tail holder to create a half bun shape. A few pieces were allowed to fall out in the back for a messier look.

The top of the hair was teased, pulled back to meet the back and pinned, criss-crossing the bobby pins for a secure hold. For hold, the hair was sprayed all over with TRESemmé TRES TWO Extra Hold Hair Spray.

To finish, hairspray was sprayed onto the finger tips and the hair was gently pulled around the face with the fingers to loosen the hair, giving it an organic effortless look.
